Zimra to launch e-taxation
THE Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra) will next week launch an electronic direct banking system which would enable clients to pay taxes through the banks. The direct banking initiative — also known as e-taxation — is in line with the authority's continued efforts to enhance client service to levels and standards commensurate with modern business practice. It is a cost-effective system, as clients will no longer have to physically visit Zimra offices for tax payments and also encourages customers to pay before deadlines. Once payments are done, the financial institution can then make an electronic transfer to Zimra's Reserve Bank account through the Zimbabwe Electronic Transfer and Settlement System. Zimra would then send receipts to customers as confirmation of payment.

Researchers found that support for independence is now at a ten-year low of 23 per cent, despite the SNP's victory in May. .
